Academy Studios was sub-contracted by California Academy of Sciences to fabricate 12 tank inserts for the new Steinhart Aquarium. An enormous Sea Bass, Moray Eels, an Anaconda, a Caribbean Reef, Lionfish, Piranhas and a day/night tank are a few of the animals/habitats explored in the tanks executed by Academy Studios. Each tank's habitat, includes scientifically accurate fabricated rockwork and plants into which some real coral and plants were placed. Tank inserts are made with function as a priority, focusing on serving the needs of the animal resident(s) and their keepers to make sure both have the space needed to ensure safety. These tank inserts provide a dramatic experience, immersing visitors in allusive habitats rarely seen up close.
