The California Academy of Sciences contracted Academy Studios to design and fabricate a number if Interstitial Exhibits for the new facility, including the "Research Projects Lab," "View to Collections," "Green Sustainable Practices Wall," and "Children's Gallery" exhibits. These exhibits cover a wide array of topics from views of California through it's youths eyes to sustainable building practices and what makes the new building so "green." Audio-visual media interactives, including 33 interviews of the Academy's scientists and touchable artifacts/samples engage visitors in a process of discovery through each exhibit. Visitors are brought into close proximity with the Academy's vast collection of specimens through interactive kiosks and video programs that allow them to better understand how the collections are used. At the Green Wall visitors can handle alternative building materials that help preserve our natural world, including recycled blue jean insulation and radiant floor tubing.
